Radon AwarenessRADON Awareness Presentation for Genoa Residents — The Nevada Radon Education Program (NREP) presentation at the Genoa Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. is hosted by the UNR Cooperative Extension Office.

Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that you can’t see, smell or taste. It is also the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in the U.S. The U.S. EPA estimates that 1 out of 15 homes nationwide has an elevated level of radon — in Nevada, the ratio is 1 out of 4. NREP is striving to educate Nevadans about this potential health risk in resident’s homes by providing FREE Radon Test Kits to Nevada residents and detailed information on why, where and how to mitigate radon in a home. Starting on January 10th — and through the month of February — FREE radon test kits will available for Genoa area residents at the Genoa Town Office. (Kits will also on hand year-round for free to Nevada residents in the Cooperative Extension Office at 1325 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville.)

Contact the Town, (775) 782-8696 or visit the NREP website at www.RadonNV.com or call 1-888-RADON10 (1-888-723-6610)

For more details about the presentation, please call the Town Office (775) 782-8696.
